Slow Down, You’re Doing Fine

14 October 2022 – 10 September 2023
The exhibition is temporarily closed from Monday 3 July to Thursday 20 July 2023

Slow Down, You're Doing Fine

In our attention economy, taking time out to meditate on a single object can be a radical act of self-care. This exhibition invites you to spend time getting to know one or two paintings in detail.

Looking at a single painting for 2 minutes, 20 minutes, or longer, can slow our thinking and enable us to get to know a work of art in our own way. This is called slow-looking. It isn't about us telling you about art – it is about you having a personal connection; seeing in it what only you can see.

In this exhibition, you can see an eclectic selection of paintings from the Whitworth collection. We encourage you to pull up a chair and make your own discoveries in the works on display.
