Exchanges: Recent Additions to the Collection

19 February 2022 – 21 May 2023

Exchanges
Recent Additions to the Collection

Exchanges sets art and artist together, sometimes in harmony, sometimes in opposition – always with insight and intention.

This is an evolving exhibition (running from 2018 to 2023) in which works are regularly exchanged and displays refreshed, revealing the gallery’s recent acquisitions alongside existing collection works.

The display reflects on the history of the collection and shares our vision for its future. Recently, we have been acquiring work that expands, enriches, and troubles its contents, departing from a narrow art history that privileges white male artists.

This iteration of Exchanges includes a special focus on contemporary textile art by women artists from South Asia and the British South Asian diaspora, collected through the Art Fund New Collecting Award awarded to previous Assistant Curator Uthra Rajgopal in 2019. www.artfund.org
