Opening Times
The Whitworth's opening times for 2023 are Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm, and on Thursdays, we're open until 9pm. We look forward to welcoming you to the art gallery, shop, café, Park and grounds.

Tree removal work taking place near the Whitworth Café
On Monday 15 May work will begin to remove three ash trees near the Whitworth café and the Whitworth Parkside entrance.
The trees must be removed due to Ash dieback (Hymenoscyphus fraxineus) – a fungal disease that can pose a safety hazard. We have worked with arborists over the last several years to try to retain these trees but unfortunately this won't be possible.
In autumn, our Landscaping team will plant six trees to replace those being removed, as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting sustainable landscaping, caring for green spaces, and protecting the environment.
When planted, we hope the new trees over the years will also encourage new and complimentary wildlife to visit and enjoy Whitworth Park.
Tree removal work starts on Monday 15 May and will take around one week to complete.
We apologise for any disruption or inconvenience this causes while the work is taking place.
Please note: the gallery, shop, and cafe are closed on Mondays, including all Bank Holiday Mondays 2023

The Whitworth is CLOSED on all Bank Holiday Mondays, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.
Saturday afternoons in the Cafe this summer, please check closing times on arrival: Due to a number of weddings taking place at the gallery during June, July, and August, our Cafe, Upper Promenade, Gallery 3, and Art Garden will close slightly earlier on Saturdays. Our exhibitions and gallery shop will remain open as usual.

Due to a number of weddings taking place at the gallery this summer, the Cafe will close slightly earlier on Saturdays. Please check the Cafe closing times with staff on your arrival. Our exhibitions and the Whitworth Shop will remain open as usual.
