About the Whitworth Cafe
Our café is run by the University’s Hospitality team, who offer exceptional hospitality, superb food, and exciting menus for a range of venues, events, and meetings across the University campus.
The café delivers high-quality food to enhance a visit to the gallery. The menus at the café aim to showcase fresh local and seasonal produce from around the Manchester and northwest area. With a focus on using ethically sourced ingredients from specialist suppliers who commit to environmental and social responsibility.
Everything is served in our beautiful café and restaurant, a highlight of the Whitworth. Located in the elegant glass and stainless steel extension designed by MUMA, the café overlooks Whitworth Park and our strikingly designed Art Garden. With floor-to-ceiling windows, this is the perfect place to enjoy the outdoors, whatever the weather.
Tree removal work taking place near the Whitworth Café
On Monday 15 May work will begin to remove three ash trees near the Whitworth café and the Whitworth Parkside entrance.
The trees must be removed due to Ash dieback (Hymenoscyphus fraxineus) – a fungal disease that can pose a safety hazard. We have worked with arborists over the last several years to try to retain these trees but unfortunately this won't be possible.
In autumn, our Landscaping team will plant six trees to replace those being removed, as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting sustainable landscaping, caring for green spaces, and protecting the environment. When planted, we hope the new trees over the years will also encourage new and complimentary wildlife to visit and enjoy Whitworth Park.
Tree removal work starts on Monday 15 May and will take around one week to complete. We apologise for any disruption or inconvenience this causes while the work is taking place.

Tuesday to Sunday 10am-5pm
Last food orders – 3.30pm, final orders – 4pm
Thursday 10am-8pm
Last food orders – 3.30pm, final orders – 7.30pm
Saturday afternoons – June, July, and August
Due to a number of weddings taking place at the gallery this summer, the Cafe will close slightly earlier on Saturdays. Please check the Cafe closing times with staff on your arrival. Our exhibitions and the Whitworth Shop will remain open as usual.
