Get Involved with Whitworth Young Contemporaries and Saturday Student Socials. Whitworth Young Contemporaries (WYC) is a group of young people who connect art, ideas, and communities. Activities are open to 16-24 years olds.

Whitworth Young Contemporaries Makes

Young artist-led practical workshops making connections to contemporary life and current exhibitions. WYC is working with The Manchester College students in response to the Whitworth’s John Lyons exhibition along with costume designers and spoken word artists. This is a takeover. A chance to drop in for one session or take part in the whole programme.

WYC sessions are FREE and drop-in, there’s no need to book.
On selected Thursdays, from 6-8pm, and on selected Saturdays from 1-4pm, and also one Sunday*
Location: Clore Garden Studio, the Whitworth

*Sunday 9 June 1-4pm – Performance as part of the University of Manchester’s Bicentenary Celebrations.

Saturday Student Socials

Saturday Student Socials are opportunities for students to come together to chat and make.

Saturday Student Socials are FREE and drop-in, there’s no need to book.
On the second Saturday of the month, from 2pm to 4pm
Location: Clore Garden Studio, the Whitworth

Saturday 11 May, 2pm-4pm, The Clore Garden Studio
It’s all about badgemaking… make personalised badges using recycled bottle tops or customised button badges. How many can you make in 2 hours? Bring your own bottle tops if you want to incorporate original logos.
