Charcoal Drawing
Thursday 7 November 2024, 6pm-8pm
Connect to the exhibition Barbara Walker: Being Here, as source and inspiration as you explore differing ways and techniques with charcoal. With tips and instruction, participants will make tonal drawing with and without lines and produce reverse charcoal drawings with putty.
Make
Thursday 23 January 2025, 6pm-8pm
In what promises to be a dynamic and fun session, you are invited to reflect on what home, identity and belonging means to you. Connecting to Jakkai Siribtr’s There’s no Place, exhibition, create a dialogue through drawing, process and methodology as you work towards a collaborative installation.
Photography
Thursday 27 March 2025, 6pm-8pm
A vibrant display of new art and textiles in our Exchanges exhibition is deserving of your time in the realm of photography. Looking into areas such as exposure control, composition and varying ways to shoot your subjects. Using your own smartphone, and with guided tips with creative thinking from our photographer, use the themes in Exchanges to look, spot and capture beauty in the world.
Printmaking
Thursday 19 June 2025, 6pm-8pm
Join our experienced printmaker for an evening exploring the variety of mark-making offered by printmaking. Engraving, relief and monoprinting will be used to create your own series of prints as you connect to the 250th anniversary of the birth of J.M.W Turner, and the Whitworth exhibition Turner: Liber Studiorum.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Enrich your teaching and extend your practice.
Escape the classroom with an all staff CPD here at the Whitworth. Learn practical, hands onskills with artists ranging from drawing to printmaking. Make personable connections to our collections and take away skills you can use back in the school setting. Why not play our Minecraft resource and develop your coding skills or learn new movement and dance techniques. You can even break the mould and partake in one of our Tai Chi sessions – there’s so much to do. Get in touch and build your own experience with us.
