Artist led workshop for Schools – Climate
The programme aims to feed and encourage children’s inquisitive nature and present a platform for children to have their say and share thoughts and feelings on society today and things that matters to them.
Alongside a cohort of forward thinking pupils Year 5 pupils from Abraham Moss Primary, the Whitworth has designed a brand new co-produced session with local artists linking to environmental themes in Whitworth Park. Children have challenged attitudes to green spaces, explored nature and park life, redesigned dream parks and settings and created manifestos with green pledges as an action. This brand new, issue based, workshop is now live for schools to book for September onwards.
To book, please email steven.roper@manchester.ac.uk with three dates that work for your school and we’ll take care of the rest.
Change Makers
Imagine, create and design solutions to solve problems in today’s ever-changing world. As a University art gallery we invite schools to come on a journey with us to help shape and respond to the world we live in both locally and globally.
Our Change Makers programme uses art, Manchester University researchers, creative thinkers and pupil voice to explore issue-based learning that intends to make positive difference in school communities.

Become a Change Maker school…
Each year we open conversations with teachers to become one of three Change Maker Primary schools and to be part of a one-year long partnership residency with the Whitworth.
Contact the team to talk through possibilities and arrange a pre- planning conversation. We intend to co design partnership agreements that enable schools to commission bespoke projects that link to their curriculum and to the issues that matter to them.
Change Maker partnership commissions cost between 3-5K and are negotiated as a project agreement.
