Beyond Dementia is a Collection Centre exhibition that explores the lived experience of dementia, looking beyond the condition and highlighting the positives.


This exhibition has been extended to January 2018

Exhibition Talk and Tour

Join exhibition curator, Holly Grange, and Arts and Health Partnership Manager, Wendy Gallagher, in a tour of the Beyond Dementia exhibition. Explore the work of the participants and artworks from our Musgrave Kinley Outsider Artist collection

Mindfulness for Carers

Be kind to yourself. Take a break.
Caring for someone with dementia can be rewarding but it may also be a challenge. The needs of the person you care for may often come before your own and lead to limited time available to look after yourself. Using the Whitworth collection, we are offering a brief introduction to the practice of Mindfulness - a simple form of meditation that helps to focus awareness and attention on the present whilst offering respite.

Artist Workshops

Making art enables people living with dementia to be creative, express themselves and provides opportunities to form new identities whilst celebrating uniqueness. Join us in a series of workshops exploring the benefits of creativity to health and wellbeing.
