The Modern Caterer at the Whitworth
The reopening of the Whitworth sees Peter Booth - and his award-winning company, The Modern Caterer - return to the Whitworth with a seasonal menu that takes diners from breakfast through to evening meals, seven days a week. Peter has worked with us for over a decade and his understanding of our commitment to the environment is reflected in his menu: food is locally or ethically sourced from specialist suppliers.
Drop in for the perfect boiled egg and soldiers at breakfast, or try Peter’s own granola recipe or sourdough. At lunchtime, warm salads vary from beetroot and goat’s curd to the first asparagus of spring. Afternoon tea features homemade cakes – including Peter’s legendary organic brownies – while every weekend sees an extensive breakfast, brunch and full roast menu laid on.
Everything is served in our beautiful café and restaurant, a highlight of the new Whitworth. Located in the elegant glass and stainless steel extension designed by MUMA, the café overlooks Whitworth Park and our newly designed art garden. With floor to ceiling windows, this is the perfect place to enjoy the outdoors, whatever the weather.
Café and restaurant:
Monday to Wednesday: 9am-5pm
Friday to Saturday: 9am-5pm
Cafe early closure:
On Friday 30 September and the café will stop serving food at 3pm to prepare for a private evening event. The gallery will remain open until 5pm as usual.
