Everyday Art School
Ideas to bring art into your everyday life and rethink how we use it.
This is not an exhibition, it’s a work in progress. A space to explore the idea of art as a process and reimagine what we might do with it. Reconnecting art with our day-to-day lives through Play, Purpose and Working Together.
In Everyday Art School, you’ll encounter,
Projects – Live projects and partnerships you can get involved in where together, we use art for positive social change. Examples include a handmade table-setting and meal for discussing how we can better grow and access food, building new worlds in Minecraft and an artist residency with award-winning Venture Arts.
Collections – changing displays from across the Whitworth’s fantastic collections of art, textiles, and wallpaper as a tool to inspire and create an environment for artistic thinking. From a large-scale pop-inspired tapestry by Eduardo Paolozzi to Virgil Marti’s flocked wallpaper confronting school bullies, the displays celebrate the power of creative expression to alter how we relate to the world.
Ideas – a growing collection of ideas from artists, local partners and others to help share how you can bring art into everyday life.
