Powerful baby-loss exhibition at the Whitworth recognised by Fantastic Families Awards 2022

We are delighted that our Whitworth original, Still Parents: Life after Baby Loss exhibition has won the Audience Impact and Innovation Award at this year’s Fantastic Families Awards ceremony.

Fantastic Families Award is the latest accolade for the award-winning Still Parents: Life after Baby Loss, the exhibition has provided comfort and support to many families across the UK. 

The Still Parents: Life after Baby Loss exhibition is a display of artwork, objects, and poetry that aims to tell the stories of bereaved families and provides a safe space and support to anyone who has experienced child loss.

Lucy Turner, Project Producer for Still Parents: Life after Baby Loss, at the Whitworth, said: “With Still Parents, I wanted to create something different, something that would perhaps have appealed to me when I experienced my own loss. Rather than following a talk-based format, I wanted to simply provide a safe space for grieving parents to process their loss through art and art-making. These artist-led workshops allow parents to explore their individual experiences, alongside others that understand, in a productive and creative way.” 
 
The Fantastic Families Awards celebrate the wealth of outstanding and creative provision for families across the UK. The Audience Impact and Innovation Award recognises the achievements of creative organisations that have demonstrated innovation and adaptability to reach and make a difference to families in need.

Alongside the exhibition, the program has included support workshop sessions for families and opportunities for people to contribute to the memory wall, a collection of stories on display.
