Volunteers are at the heart of the Whitworth.

We have volunteers who contribute and learn across a variety of roles at the gallery, from textile care, conservation and art gardening to digitising our collection and cataloguing our library. Assist in the delivery of workshops and exhibitions, volunteer with your family, help out with large-scale events and more! We hope to make each opportunity meaningful, no matter your background or prior experience.

We also welcome enquiries from local schools, colleges and community groups about work experience and placements at the gallery.

Please note that we do not have the capacity to involve everyone who approaches us, but are always thinking of new ways to include volunteers, whilst making each experience and opportunity meaningful for our existing volunteers.
