This summer the Whitworth joins the Summer Of Play campaign with activities to encourage children and their families to play and explore the outdoors together. Thanks to the support of our friends at Pentagon Play there’s water play, potion stations, chalk drawing, mud painting and more. Something for all the family in a gallery where art meets nature.

#SummerOfPlay activities at the Whitworth are kindly supported by our friends at Pentagon Play

*Please note – during busy times

Our Outdoor Art Club activities are drop-in and during busy times you may need to be patient and help us to maintain a safe environment for all. If we are at full capacity when you arrive, don’t worry we have our Welly Walk booklets and Park Trails map, and Colouring-in Park map available to encourage you and your family to explore the art and nature in our park, and don’t forget we have a play park nearby too.

Information to help plan your visit

Outdoor Art Club will take place outside in the Art Garden and Park. Families who would also like to visit inside the gallery will still need to pre-book tickets and check in at the welcome desk. Click here to book your FREE entry ticket
The health and safety of our staff, visitors, volunteers, and community remains our number one priority. We want to ensure that everyone who visits us has a wonderful time, and also feels safe and comfortable.

Here are some of the measures we’re taking for the Outdoor Art Club this summer

• Outdoor play equipment will be spaced out to encourage social distancing.
• We will encourage visitors to wear a face-covering inside the gallery if they can.
• We are maintaining our regular cleaning regimes throughout the building and hand sanitiser will be available inside and outside during Outdoor Art Club times.
• We will continue displaying QR codes for visitors wishing to check in using the NHS COVID-19 app.

For more information about our current Covid-19 guidelines please read our Visit information and Frequently Asked Questions pages on the gallery’s website.
