<>13.11.08 Blake's Shadow exhibition tours to Seoul National University, South Korea

The exhibition Blake's Shadow: William Blake and his Artistic Legacy, first shown at The Whitworth Art Gallery in January 2008, is now touring to Seoul, South Korea.  It is on display at the Museum of Art, Seoul National University until 14 February 2009.

This tour from Manchester's Whitworth Art Gallery to Seoul's Museum of Art is the latest partnership between The University of Manchester and the Seoul National University.  The institutions have developed close collaborative ties over several years, reflected in a significant community of Manchester alumni now living and working in Seoul.  William Blake's work has never before been seen in East Asia, despite keen enthusiasm for historic printmaking fostered through widespread knowledge of Japanese and Chinese printmaking traditions.  The opening of Blake's Shadow on 13 November was a highly anticipated 'first' for Seoul and for Manchester, and marks the start of what is hoped will be a continuing collaboration between the two university galleries.
