The Whitworth has now closed in order to carry out major development work, transforming the Gallery into a new 21st century gallery in the park, extending and doubling the size of the public space at the Gallery. We will re-open in autumn 2014.
While Whitworth Art Gallery is closed why not visit our neighbours... Manchester Museum has a new year-round programme for adults. Visit the Museum Meets blog to find out more, and take a look at photos from previous Museum Meets events on Flickr.
You can also view Manchester Museum events on this events & exhibitions calendar and find out about the different events the Museum offers to visitors.
The Friends of the Whitworth support the Gallery, and are a lively organisation offering a wide programme of events including lectures, behind the scenes visits, visits to other art galleries, museums, houses and gardens at home and abroad and social events.
